As we near the start of the school year many look forward to shopping for those supplies and new clothes. Others look to the fall as a time to spruce up their own wardrobes or homes. Ohio provides a break from sales tax at least three days a year at retail stores, or on the internet, for items costing $500 or less, with some exclusions. Motor vehicles, watercraft of outboard motors requiring a title, alcohol, tobacco, vaping products and any item containing marijuana don’t qualify for the Holiday.
There is no limit to the number of items you can purchase or for the total amount spent as long as each item purchased is under the $500 limit. This year, dine in restaurants are included in the Sales Tax Holiday, which runs for ten days. So plan your outing! This years Ohio Sales Tax Holiday starts at 12:00 a.m. Tuesday July 30 until 11:59 p.m. August 8.
